The region from Matura to
Matelot encompasses one of the most
beautiful and exotic coastline in the
Caribbean and quite possibly the world. We
the residents of the Sangre Grande region
are not only proud of this natural beauty
but also of the tremendous potential which
lies within. Our region is one of the most
prolific destinations in the world for the
giant leatherback turtles. We have some of
the most unique flora and fauna in the
world. Here you will find verdant
rainforest just one (1) hour from the
airport and 11/2
hours from our capital city of Port of
Spain. As Chairman of the Sangre Grande
Regional Corporation we fully support the
twin initiatives of presenting our riches to
the world and also of preserving our
heritage and environment for future
generations to enjoy. Our goal is to
promote community-based tourism including
nature and adventure tourism and the
revitalisation of our agricultural and
fishing industries. The community is
therefore at the center of our initiative
for advancement of the region.
